SafeHands LLC (“SafeHands,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the MySafeHands mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our App. By using SafeHands, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
SafeHands is not a HIPAA-covered entity. The App is designed for personal use by individuals and families to organize and manage their own health information. It is not intended for use by healthcare providers in a clinical or professional setting.
When you use SafeHands, you may provide the following types of information:
Account Information: Name, email address, and password when creating an account.
Health Profile Information: Medications, appointments, vital signs, allergies, vaccinations, dietary needs, respiratory support details, assistive devices, and notes that you choose to enter for yourself or someone you care for.
Documents and Photos: Photos and files you choose to add, such as medication bottle photos, discharge paperwork, and other health documents. Your camera and photo library are used only when you start a scan or an upload, never in the background, and only the photos you select are used.
Care Circle Information: Names, email addresses, and phone numbers of people you invite to your Care Circle.
Contacts: Names, phone numbers, and other details of healthcare providers and emergency contacts you add.
Care Updates: Messages and updates you share within your Care Circle.
Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version.
Usage Data: How you interact with the App (features used, pages visited).
Authentication Data: Login timestamps and session information.
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve the App
Enable care coordination features such as Care Circle sharing
Send important service-related communications
Ensure the security and integrity of your account
Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your health information for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to providing the App's services.
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase and Firestore, which provide encryption in transit and at rest.
Access to your data is controlled through authentication and permission-based access levels within the App.
We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
SafeHands uses the following third-party services:
Google Firebase: Authentication, data storage, and hosting.
RevenueCat: Subscription management and payment processing. RevenueCat does not have access to your health data.
Apple App Store / Google Play Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases.
Google Cloud (Vertex AI): AI processing for optional, on-demand features. When you request a health event summary, or choose to scan a medication bottle or health document, the relevant entries or photos are processed within the same secure Google Cloud infrastructure that stores your data. Nothing is sent unless you start the action, you review the results before anything is saved, and your information is not used to train AI models.
These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.
SafeHands includes an optional feature that creates a written summary of a health event: the notes, symptoms, vitals, medications, appointments, and tasks you have linked to it. A summary is created only when you tap Create Summary. Nothing is ever sent to an AI service automatically or in the background.
When you request a summary, the entries for that event are sent securely to our AI provider (Google's Gemini, running on Google Cloud's Vertex AI) for processing. We remove identifying profile details such as name and date of birth before sending; text you have typed into notes is included as you wrote it. Processing happens within the same Google Cloud infrastructure that already stores your data, under our agreement with Google, and your entries are not used to train AI models.
Summaries only restate what you have recorded. They never add medical advice, interpretation, or diagnosis, and they are not a substitute for professional medical care. You review every summary before deciding whether to share it, and summaries are subject to a daily limit per account.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or health information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
With your Care Circle: Health profile data is shared with people you explicitly invite and grant access to.
Service Providers: With third-party services listed above, solely to operate the App.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.
Access and Update: You can view and update your information at any time through the App.
Delete Your Account: You can delete your account through the App settings. This will permanently remove your account and associated data.
Manage Care Circle Access: You can remove members from your Care Circle or leave a Care Circle at any time.
When you delete your account through the App, your account information and associated health data are permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized or aggregated data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained for service improvement purposes.
SafeHands is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.
SafeHands is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at thesafehandsapp@gmail.com.
If you sign up for guide updates on our website, we collect your email address and use it only to send you an email when a new guide is published and, if you request it, to send you a copy of a free resource such as the Caregiver Binder Kit. Signing up is optional, every resource on our site is available without it, and your email address is never sold or shared for marketing. Every update email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by writing to support@safehandsapp.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
